This 5-morning (8:30 – 12n) program is designed for rising and current Middle School students. Students will engage in intensive review and in depth conceptualization activities. Not intended to move students to or through new content, this week is meant to improve students’ proficiency with basic number sense and solidify their understanding of language and methods specific to the math curriculum they’ll be encountering in the coming year.
- Multiplication and Division math facts intensive review and conceptualization, using dot icons as visual representations of quantity
- Number Sense and review of place value to 1,000,000,000
- Strategies for multiplication and division, including distributive property multiplication and division, area model multiplication, partial quotient division, and short division
- Word problems and the language of multiplication/division
To address the topics mentioned above in the time allotted, we'll follow the schedule below:
8:30 - 9:00 - Dots: Number Sense
9:00 - 9:45 - x ÷ facts: recall & concepts
9:45 - 10:30 - Place Value / Procedures of x & ÷
10:30 - 10:45 - Snack / Break
10:45 - 11:00 - Review Problem Solving Method
11:00 - 12:00 - Problem Solving
12:00 - 12:30 - Lunch / Pick-up / games
